I just graduated and played for Wausau. Next year ill be going to UW Marathon County for 2 years then after transfering out. But while im there my buddy and i wanted to try and start up a club team. If anyone has any useful information, tips, or anything in trying to make this happen it would be greatly appreciated.

You could literally just look in the MATC thread about what people said.

Field a team in the GLLL. You need no school endorsement. Steps to take:

1. Start a Facebook group and message all interested people you know, then tell them to message all interested people, so on and so forth.
2. Contact a jersey making company and order some cheap reversibles. Lacrossewear.com can do them for under $15.
3. Find a local park big enough to line with lacrosse lines, and plop some goals on it. Many parks can be rented out for as little as $10-$20 a month if anything.
4. Contact Hal Rosenberg and get your team placed in the GLLL.

Done.

Thanks but do you know if itd be possible to get the school to cooperate as well? I think it's going to be hard to find enough people from there that would be willing to pitch out enough money to buy a full set of gear and such.

I would think that it would be easier to get the School's buy in, if you showed them that you had the numbers to make it worth their while.

Doing this for a UW system school should be done entirely differently than doing a team for MATC. Assuming they have any club sports you want to go to whoever your clubs sports director is, and apply to create a club sport. Basically you need to have a mission statement/some bylaws, things that are pretty easy to make up. You want/need to do this for a couple reasons. First off doing this puts you in line for SUFAC money, which is huge. Whitewater has our goals/balls/field paint/hotels/partially jerseys/a lot of our equipment paid for by the university through SUFAC money, because of this we pay $100 a year to play. Second reason is, UW schools get real pissed when you do things without them knowing. Even if you made say a Mad Cow like team which has no school affiliation, if the majority of the players are from UW-MC and they find out, they'll be upset. Bad news. So find out who is in charge of club sports there and ask them how to proceed. If there are no club sports, then go the MATC style route.
